Two players play as a pairing against the other two, match play, and usually stroking off the low ball. The team which has the lowest single score on a hole wins the hole. If the individual player handicaps are very close, it can be played at scratch (no handicaps). This is popular game because it speeds up play...a player who is "out of the hole" with a high score can pick up and allow his partner to compete.
